In its 49th year, Orton Park Festival is the grandfather of Madison’s outdoor music festivals. We look forward to another inspiring lineup under the stately oak and hickory canopy.

Located at 1200 Spaight Street on the beautiful east side, Orton kicks off once again with Cycropia Aerial Dance Troupe as the focal point of Family Night, Thursday, August 21. The performance will get an early 7:30pm start time and there will be plenty of parking in the neighborhood. Soft drinks and pizza (benefiting the Wil-Mar Center) and ice cream will be available to purchase from 6pm on. The aerial show will be performed once again in the mighty bur oak on Friday night.

For the complete Friday through Sunday lineup with bios for all of this year’s terrific music, see the Orton Park Schedule. For previews and updates, be sure to follow the Orton Facebook page. And to enjoy the music while you wait for the shows, check out the Orton Park Festival 2014 YouTube Channel.

Food carts from an array of favorite local restaurants will be on hand to meet every culinary craving. Of course the Wil-Mar Center’s dedicated volunteers will be grilling up a storm and also serving sweet corn and slices of Glass Nickel Pizza.

Saturday and Sunday we’ll do some fundraising with the sometimes tedious, sometimes entertaining but always-lucrative MNA auction. Register at the MNA tables, pick up a number and get ready to bid in support of the neighborhood. Joanna Donovan and friends revived the Orton Park Cake Walk a few years ago and it has been a huge hit. So help us whipping up your most decadent cake-y treat, bring it down to the park by 2pm on Sunday and see it consumed by a brash, pint-sized winner.

We encourage festival-goers to leave their coolers at home and support the free event by purchasing food and beverages benefiting the Wil-Mar Center and MNA. This is a very residential neighborhood. Please be on your best behavior. We will have plenty of bike racks and encourage folks to come on two wheels rather than four.
